RRQ: Building the Future of Esports from Southeast Asia
In the fast-moving world of esports, few organizations in Southeast Asia carry a story as ambitious, resilient, and far-reaching as RRQ.
Headquartered in Jakarta, Indonesia, RRQ has grown from a passionate gaming project into one of the region’s most influential esports organizations. As part of Qeon Interactive, under the wider MidPlaza Holding ecosystem, RRQ stands at the intersection of competition, entertainment, youth culture, and digital innovation.
Today, RRQ is more than a team. It is a platform. It is a home for players, creators, communities, and young people who believe that gaming can be more than just a hobby. It can be a career, a dream, a movement, and for many, a way to belong.
With around 150 employees and its headquarters in Indonesia, RRQ continues to expand its influence beyond the server, the stage, and the screen. Since its establishment, the organization has nurtured more than 250 professional players and competed across 20 esports titles, building a legacy that reflects both ambition and adaptability.
By 2024, RRQ had become one of the largest esports organizations in Southeast Asia, supported by strong partnerships and official league affiliations with some of the biggest game publishers in the world. Its current competitive ecosystem includes major titles such as Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, PUBG Mobile, VALORANT, and Honor of Kings.
RRQ also made history in 2024 by becoming the first esports organization to launch a special-edition gaming peripheral in collaboration with Pulsar. Through the release of the Pulsar X2H RRQ Edition gaming mouse and Pulsar ES2 RRQ Edition mousepad, RRQ showed that its brand could live not only in tournaments and content, but also in the hands of gamers themselves.
That is the essence of RRQ’s journey: a constant drive to compete, innovate, and create meaningful connections with the gaming generation.
The Philosophy Behind RRQ
The name Rex Regum Qeon means “King of Kings.” But for RRQ, being the best is not only about winning trophies.
At its foundation, RRQ was built with the dream of becoming a champion in every esports title it enters. Victory remains a core part of the organization’s DNA. Every roster, every match, and every competition carries the same hunger to win.
But RRQ’s ambition goes beyond the scoreboard.
The second layer of RRQ’s philosophy is to become the best not only in competition, but also in business, content, events, and community engagement. RRQ aims to lead as a complete esports and gaming organization, one that can compete at the highest level while also building sustainable platforms around the industry.
At its highest level, RRQ exists to empower young people.
Through esports, entertainment, education, and community initiatives, RRQ wants to give the younger generation more ways to chase their dreams. This mission can be seen through its growing ecosystem, including RRQ Mabar, which engages school communities and young talent; RRQ Networks, which operates in the creator and talent space; RRQ TopUp, which serves gamers through digital products and services; and RRQ Store, which brings the brand closer to fans through merchandise and retail.
RRQ’s goal is not only to produce champions, but to inspire people to believe that greatness can be built from anywhere.
Even from a gaming house. Even from a dream that once looked “too niche.” Classic esports origin story, basically: small room, big ambition, very little sleep.
Qeon Interactive: The Foundation Behind RRQ
Qeon Interactive was founded in 2012 as a PC game publisher for the Indonesian market. In its early years, the company focused on casual games, FPS titles, and MMORPGs through partnerships with game companies from South Korea and Tiongkok.
As the gaming industry shifted toward mobile and esports, Qeon Interactive also evolved. In 2017, the company sharpened its focus on esports by developing Team RRQ into a more structured and professional organization.
Over time, Qeon Interactive continued to expand into gaming, entertainment, and digital services, creating a wider ecosystem around the changing behavior of modern audiences. Its vision is to deliver engaging content, services, and experiences in a digital landscape that never stops moving.
MidPlaza Holding: A Wider Ecosystem of Business Excellence
RRQ is part of MidPlaza Holding, a diversified business group that began in the 1980s with the development of MidPlaza 1 in Jakarta’s central business district.
Over the decades, MidPlaza Holding has grown across several industries, including property, hospitality, IT, and agribusiness. The group is known for its commitment to innovation, integrity, dependability, and long-term value creation.
Through its PILAR philosophy, MidPlaza Holding focuses on listening to the needs of employees and customers, creating innovative solutions, and building strong loyalty through service excellence. Its portfolio includes prominent names such as Biznet, AYANA, and MidPlaza Buildings.
Within this wider ecosystem, RRQ represents MidPlaza’s step into the future of youth culture, digital entertainment, and competitive gaming.
The Story of RRQ
RRQ was founded in October 2013. In its earliest form, RRQ was not yet the structured esports organization known today. It began as a passion project built around a group of talented Indonesian DotA players.
During this period, Riki Kawano Suliawan, one of RRQ’s founders, personally funded the team’s needs, including player salaries, the gaming house, and operational costs. It was a time when esports in Indonesia was still far from mainstream, and building a team required belief more than certainty.
The turning point came in 2017, when Riki appointed Andrian Pauline as CEO to transform RRQ into a professional esports organization.
That same year, RRQ expanded into several new divisions, including Point Blank, PUBG Battlegrounds, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. This move became one of the most important chapters in RRQ’s history.
RRQ Endeavour, the organization’s Point Blank division, delivered RRQ’s first national title at PBNC 2017 and its first world championship at PBIC 2017. It was a defining moment that proved RRQ could compete not only locally, but globally.
In Mobile Legends, RRQ O2 was formed in 2017 and later became one of the most iconic teams in the Indonesian MLBB scene. In 2019, RRQ partnered with football giant Paris Saint-Germain, creating PSG.RRQ. This collaboration made RRQ the first esports team in Southeast Asia to partner with a football club.
RRQ also expanded internationally. In 2018, the organization established RRQ Athena in Thailand to compete in PUBG Mobile. That team went on to win the PUBG Mobile Star Challenge 2018, giving RRQ another world championship and strengthening its reputation as a regional powerhouse.
In 2019, RRQ acquired Team Capcorn, bringing Calvin Thenderan into the organization as a shareholder and later as COO.
Since its founding, RRQ has competed across 20 esports titles and expanded into multiple countries, including Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Japan, Brazil, and South Korea. Some divisions became long-term pillars. Others were eventually discontinued as part of the organization’s strategic decisions in a highly unpredictable industry.
That flexibility has become part of RRQ’s identity. In esports, survival is not only about entering new games. It is also about knowing when to adapt, when to commit, and when to move on.

The People Behind RRQ
RRQ was founded by Riki Kawano Suliawan and Andrian Pauline. Today, the organization is owned by MidPlaza.
Riki Kawano Suliawan
President Director of Qeon Interactive and Co-Founder of RRQ
Riki Kawano Suliawan is the President Director of Qeon Interactive and one of the co-founders of RRQ. He is also one of the sons of Rudy Suliawan, the owner of MidPlaza Holding.
In 2012, Riki founded Qeon Interactive as a game publishing company. A year later, his passion for gaming led him to build Team RRQ.
The name RRQ itself was born from a conversation between Riki and Andrian Pauline. Riki, who used “Qeon” as his in-game name, wanted something that sounded powerful and meaningful. Together, they eventually landed on Rex Regum Qeon, which means “King of Kings.”
That name would later become one of the most recognizable brands in Southeast Asian esports.
Andrian Pauline
CEO of RRQ
Andrian Pauline has been part of the esports and gaming world since the Counter-Strike 1.6 era in 2007. Before leading RRQ, he was a professional player, then a team manager, before eventually joining Qeon Interactive.
Prior to becoming CEO of RRQ, Andrian served as Director of Sales and Marketing at Qeon Interactive. His journey across different sides of the industry gave him a rare perspective: he understood the players, the business, the fans, and the culture.
That combination has played an important role in shaping RRQ into an organization that is not only competitive, but also commercially and culturally relevant.
Calvin Thenderan
COO of RRQ
Calvin Victor Thenderan serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Team RRQ. His impact on the gaming and esports industry earned him recognition in Forbes Indonesia 30 Under 30 in the Games category.
Originally from Bitung, Calvin studied business administration at Macquarie University. He is also the Director of PT Carvinna Trijaya Makmur.
As COO, Calvin has been part of RRQ’s continued growth as the organization expands its competitive divisions, business operations, and broader ecosystem.

RRQ Kingdom
RRQ Kingdom is more than a fanbase—it is a family built through victories, heartbreaks, late-night watch parties, and the unwavering belief that loyalty is measured not only when we celebrate championships, but also when we face challenges together. The name “Kingdom” first resonated in 2019, marking the birth of a united movement that has only grown stronger since. Today, more than 119,000 members gather on the RRQ Discord, and over 900 Superfans from Jabodetabek and various regions proudly carry the colors gold and black. They are the heartbeat of RRQ—the voices behind every cheer, every chant, every moment that reminds us why we fight.
Born from that spirit, RKK, or RRQ Keliling Kota, is a program created by RRQ and the Kingdom, for the Kingdom. As of May 2026, RKK has traveled through 112 city stops across 61 cities in Indonesia, growing into one of RRQ’s most meaningful community movements. From major cities such as Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung, Medan, Makassar, Palembang, and Yogyakarta to vibrant regional hubs like Cianjur, Kupang, Pangkal Pinang, Tarakan, Ternate, Kendari, and Banda Aceh, RKK brings RRQ closer to the people who have always been part of its journey.
Across seven seasons, RKK has reached communities across Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, and Maluku. Through watch parties, community tournaments, meet-and-greet sessions, and warm interactions with RRQ talents and leadership, RKK turns every city into a gathering place for the Kingdom. In every stop, strangers become teammates, fans become family, and the love for esports becomes a shared bond that continues to grow. More Than an Esports Team
RRQ’s story is not only about trophies, rosters, or tournament records.
It is about how an idea born from passion became a regional force. It is about how gaming, once seen by many as a pastime, became a platform for careers, communities, and national pride. It is about the players who carried the jersey, the fans who filled arenas and comment sections, and the people behind the scenes who helped build the structure around the dream.
RRQ continues to evolve because esports itself continues to evolve. Games change. Leagues change. Audiences change. But the heart of RRQ remains the same: to compete at the highest level, to build with purpose, and to inspire the next generation to believe that their dreams are worth fighting for.
From Jakarta to the world, RRQ is still writing its story.
And for an organization named “King of Kings,” the crown is not just something to wear.
It is something to earn, again and again.
