RRQ Hoshi at MSC 2025: A Valiant Effort Falls Short of Redemption

After battling through a fiercely competitive Group Stage filled with top teams from around the globe, RRQ Hoshi concluded their MSC 2025 journey with a respectable 5th–8th place finish on the world stage. While a semifinal berth remained out of reach, the team’s performance was nothing short of commendable, especially in a year marked by intense rivalries and razor-thin margins.

Group B: Breaking Through via the Upper Bracket

RRQ Hoshi delivered a strong showing in Group B. Their campaign began with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Area 77, a formidable contender from North America. In the group semifinal, RRQ once again displayed resilience and consistency, edging past Aurora Türkiye—one of the tournament’s breakout teams—with another 2–1 win.

These two crucial victories secured RRQ Hoshi a coveted Upper Bracket slot in the Knockout Stage. Alongside them, Team Spirit, ONIC PH, and Aurora Türkiye also advanced from the same group, underscoring the high caliber of competition.

Knockout Stage: A Painful Exit in the Quarterfinals

The Knockout Stage, however, proved to be a turning point. RRQ Hoshi faced off against SRG.OG—the reigning MPL Malaysia champions in red-hot form. Despite showing moments of brilliance, RRQ ultimately fell 1–3, ending their MSC run earlier than hoped.

The loss stung even more given its familiarity: just a year ago, RRQ had also been eliminated by SRG (who went on to win MSC 2024). In 2025, SRG.OG once again reached the grand finals, only to fall to Team Liquid PH in a thrilling conclusion to the tournament.

Final Standing: Top 8 in the World and USD 100,000 Prize

With their 5th–8th place finish, RRQ Hoshi returned home with USD 100,000 in prize money and 200 Club Points toward the Esports World Cup 2025 rankings. While not the ending they had envisioned, it was a result that affirmed their standing as one of the world’s top Mobile Legends teams.

What’s Next for RRQ?

Though the road to the championship ended earlier than hoped, RRQ Hoshi’s MSC 2025 campaign showed flashes of brilliance. They proved they could hold their own against global juggernauts—be it regional MPL champions or wildcard teams from outside the traditional circuit.

Looking ahead, RRQ will need to sharpen their draft strategies and elevate in-game consistency if they are to break into the world’s top four. But one thing remains certain: the spirit of #VivaRRQ is as strong as ever. The fans continue to believe—and the next comeback might just be the one that rewrites the story.
