Lessons for the Future: RRQ Ryu’s PMSL SEA Fall 2025 Journey

The Grand Final of PMSL SEA Fall 2025 became the ultimate battleground for the 16 best teams across Southeast Asia. After enduring the long grind of Group Stage, Super Weekends, and the League Stage points race, RRQ Ryu successfully secured their ticket to the main stage at centralwOrld Pulse, Thailand. From a crowded field of partnership teams and PMNC qualifiers, only 16 squads stood tall in the Grand Final—and RRQ Ryu was among them.

A Rocky Road to the Summit

From the outset, RRQ Ryu entered the Grand Final with a bold mission: to prove that Indonesia’s partnership slot was more than just a formality. Yet the journey was anything but smooth. Fierce competition from Thailand and Vietnam turned every round into a high-stakes battle.

There were bright moments—early on, RRQ Ryu managed a 5th-place finish, later followed by consistent mid-table placements (6th, 5th, 4th). But the team also faced harsh lows, landing outside the top 10 and even finishing 16th in a round. These inconsistencies made it difficult for them to climb toward the very top of the leaderboard.

Consistency Under Pressure

Looking at their round-by-round performance, RRQ Ryu leaned more toward steady mid-table results than explosive breakthroughs. They rarely secured chicken dinners, but maintained rhythm through placement and kill points. Their biggest highlights came in crucial rounds where they finished 4th and 5th—moments that could have been turning points had they been able to replicate them more often.

Unfortunately, the Smash Rule introduced on Day 3 added even greater pressure. Against the dominance of heavyweights like D’Xavier, Vampire Esports, and eArena, RRQ Ryu struggled to generate the momentum they needed.

After three grueling days of the Grand Final, RRQ Ryu finished 11th with 98 points. It was a solid mid-table result—above Alter Ego Ares (91 points) and Todak (90 points)—but still some distance away from the elite pack in the top five.

Looking Ahead

Although they fell short of the Top 8, RRQ Ryu showed remarkable resilience in the Grand Final. Their 11th-place finish ensured that they stood among the five Indonesian representatives on Southeast Asia’s biggest stage. This campaign, while bittersweet, will serve as an important benchmark for the future—highlighting the need not just for mid-table stability, but also for the killer edge required to truly contest for championships.

With this result, RRQ also missed out on securing a slot for the PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2025. Beyond failing to finish in the top five of PMSL SEA Fall 2025, the team was unable to accumulate the highest PMGC Points across the three PMSL SEA seasons of 2025.

Still, RRQ Ryu’s story this season is one of heart, grit, and lessons learned—a foundation to build upon as they continue their pursuit of glory on the international stage.
