Petra “Fiel” Giovanni, more commonly known as “RRQ Fiel,” is more than just a name in the esports scene. His career path has been a remarkable journey, even before he ventured into esports. From being a religious studies teacher at a junior high school, a basketball coach, and a B-boy dancer, to working as a chef and running a printing business, Fiel has explored various fields. In an exclusive interview with GGWP.ID, he shared his diverse experiences.
“I used to be a junior high school teacher, a B-boy dancer, and a basketball coach. I also worked as a chef at my brother’s café—it was me who did the cooking,” he recalled. In addition, he once ran a digital printing business and honed his video and photo editing skills, thanks to his studies in multimedia.
Fiel’s transition into esports was far from a straight path. From being a player to a coach and eventually stepping into content creation, his journey has been filled with challenges, responsibilities, and unwavering dedication to his dreams and family.
He began his tenure at RRQ as the coach of Hoshi from Season 8 to the middle of Season 11. However, a life-changing moment led him to step away from coaching. When his child was born with special medical needs, Fiel and his wife made the heartfelt decision to care for their baby themselves. He chose to leave his coaching role to focus entirely on his family, firmly believing that family always comes first.
Yet, Fiel’s passion for esports never faded. In Season 14, he nearly returned as a coach, but management ultimately decided to proceed with only two coaches. Undeterred, Fiel carved his own path, embracing the role of a content creator and becoming a key figure in RRQ Keliling Kota (RKK)—a program that travels across Indonesia, bringing RRQ closer to its passionate fans.
Each city in RKK holds a special place in Fiel’s heart. He was deeply moved by the enthusiasm of fans in Kalimantan and Surabaya, who traveled long distances—some even journeying for 12 hours or taking a boat—just to support their beloved team. For Fiel, it is this kind of devotion from the fans that makes every RKK journey meaningful.
As a content creator, Fiel understands that esports is a dynamic industry. A player’s or coach’s career may be fleeting, but he believes that consistency and a strong identity can keep former players relevant. He highlights the importance of having a distinct playstyle, pointing to figures like Bang Xinn, known for his aggressive gameplay, or Lemon, who is forever associated with his iconic Kagura. These strong identities, he believes, are what make players unforgettable, even after retirement.
Moreover, Fiel sees consistency as the key to longevity. Many players fade from the spotlight because they fail to maintain their presence. His advice to young players is to not only chase victories but also build a unique identity and stay consistent—both in performance and online presence.
Today, Fiel does not dwell too much on long-term plans. Instead, he lives by the principle of giving his best in every opportunity. Deep down, he still dreams of lifting a championship trophy as a coach one more time. However, he also recognizes that his role in RKK carries immense significance. Through his interactions with fans, he continues to inspire, educate, and spread the unbreakable spirit of RRQ.
