From Model to RRQ Talent: Jessie’s Story of Courage and Serendipity

Jessie Wijaya—more fondly known as RRQ Jessie—began her career as a model in 2020. In just five years, she built an impressive portfolio spanning catalogs, commercials, and campaigns for brands such as Kenco, Pocky, Lexus, Honda, Purbasari, Clean & Clear, and Lume Colors. Outside of modeling, Jessie also ventured into entrepreneurship, running a small bakery (specializing in brownies and cookies) as well as her own clothing line. Her path has always been marked by bold steps and a willingness to try new things.

Rising from TikTok: An “Organic” KOL Journey

Becoming an influencer was never part of a grand plan. During the Covid pandemic, Jessie casually began posting on TikTok. Some of her videos made it to the For You Page, drawing more followers and eventually carrying over to Instagram. Without a fixed niche, her content was a natural mix of everyday moments. Yet, that authenticity caught the attention of brands, and soon, collaboration offers started coming in.

Discovering Esports, Joining RRQ

Interestingly, Jessie wasn’t always familiar with esports. She only knew of the biggest names like ONIC and EVOS. It was her boyfriend who first explained to her that RRQ wasn’t just a famous team—it was the number one esports organization in Indonesia, with unparalleled achievements.

Before RRQ, Jessie once received an offer to become a brand ambassador for another well-known esports team. She declined, feeling it wasn’t authentic to her, especially since she wasn’t a gamer at the time. (She only installed Mobile Legends later on.)

Her turning point came in 2025, when she received a message on Instagram from Kak Jati of RRQ. The invitation to join as a talent made her pause and think, “You only live once—why not give it a try?” After some research and reflection, Jessie felt the fit was right and accepted. Looking back, she admits she sometimes wondered if she would have earned more had she taken that earlier BA role. But ultimately, she believes that everyone has their own path and timing. For her, starting as a talent allowed her to connect deeply with the RRQ family and cheer on RRQ Hoshi up close.

Pageant Experience: Top 10 Miss Auto Show (Honda)

Beyond modeling and influencing, Jessie also ventured into pageantry. She reached the Top 10 of Miss Auto Show for Honda, a competition that spanned four stages. The most challenging part was the Q&A segment, where there were no prepared prompts. At one point, she doubted herself, thinking her answers were lacking—yet she advanced to the top 10.

In the final stage (talent show), which coincided with Indonesia’s Independence Day, Jessie wore a kebaya while performing hip-hop and spiritual dance. The concept clashed slightly compared to other contestants, whose costumes aligned more closely with their talents. Though she didn’t advance to the grand finals, making the Top 10 was a proud achievement.

She was also once a finalist for Miss Chinese Indonesia but had to withdraw midway due to mandatory travel to Tiongkok, preventing her from joining the quarantine phase.

Life as an Influencer: Not as Perfect as the Feed, But Freer Than Office Life

Jessie describes being an influencer as a mix of effort and luck. Many creative individuals upload content consistently, yet not everyone gets the exposure or breaks through the algorithm. Still, she finds this rhythm far less rigid than corporate life, which she always felt wasn’t for her.

The challenging part lies in dealing with public judgment. “You need a thick skin,” she says. Fortunately, Jessie feels she has developed resilience. She doesn’t overthink criticism and has never experienced extreme negativity.

Looking Ahead: Business, Independence, and the RRQ Family

Looking to the future, Jessie hopes to expand her ventures—growing her bakery and clothing line while exploring new opportunities. She lives by one principle: as a woman, financial independence is essential. Even if one day she marries a well-established husband, she believes it’s important to stand on her own feet. Life is unpredictable, and self-reliance is invaluable.

Within RRQ, Jessie hopes to grow alongside the team, bringing positive energy and—according to Kingdom fans—a touch of “luck” for RRQ Hoshi, since the team often wins when she’s present. More than that, she simply wants to strengthen the bonds within RRQ, nurturing relationships that feel like family, and continuing to engage warmly with Kingdom supporters.

Closing

RRQ Jessie may not be a hardcore gamer, but her “just give it a try” spirit has carried her across many doors: from model, KOL, and pageant finalist to becoming a talent for Indonesia’s top esports team. Her story reminds us that career paths are rarely straight lines. Sometimes, the small steps—posting a casual video, answering a direct message, or daring to show up despite limitations—can lead to life-changing opportunities. As long as we keep moving, researching wisely, and building resilience, chances will come from directions we least expect.
