RRQ VALORANT’s Redemption: A Journey to Victory and Beyond

In a landmark moment for Southeast Asian esports, RRQ VALORANT clinched the championship title at the VCT Pacific League 2025 Stage 1, marking not only a historic achievement but also a turning point after two years of trials, roster changes, and unwavering commitment.

Held in Seoul, South Korea, the Grand Final saw RRQ triumph 3–1 over Gen.G Esports, a team that had bested them earlier in the tournament. But behind the bright lights and loud cheers was a quieter, deeper story of resilience, strategy, and transformation—one that Head of VALORANT at RRQ, Jonathan Hoo, shared in an exclusive conversation following the team’s victory.

From Struggles to Synergy: The Road to Pacific Glory

RRQ’s journey to the top wasn’t just a tale of gameplay mastery—it was a reflection of how a team can evolve inside and outside the server.

“The biggest factor was hunger,” said Jonathan. “This team wanted it.” The turning point came after the addition of crazyguy post-Kickoff, which unlocked the full potential of the team’s new roster. Chemistry flourished. Players overhauled their lifestyles—embracing better sleep, nutrition, and structure. These changes, combined with an increasingly tight support system behind the scenes, created the perfect environment for competitive success.

The current meta also played into RRQ’s strengths. Their comfort on the map pool and the power spike of agents like Teshaun “Tejo” allowed them to capitalize tactically. But Jonathan was quick to note that Pacific isn’t getting easier—every team has upgraded their roster. RRQ’s edge wasn’t in weakness from opponents, but in strength found within themselves.

Discipline and Dedication: The True Game-Changers

When asked to pinpoint the most decisive factor in RRQ’s win, Jonathan didn’t hesitate.

“It was total commitment,” he said. “The players didn’t just grind the game—they took care of their health, their routines, and their minds. That commitment off the server showed up on the server.”

A solid backroom staff played a vital role as well, fostering a healthy and professional ecosystem where players could thrive. In a scene where raw mechanical skill often grabs headlines, RRQ’s triumph was a testament to holistic growth—where every element, from physical well-being to tactical preparation, aligned.

Eyes on Toronto and Riyadh

With the Pacific trophy in hand, RRQ now prepares for even bigger stages: VALORANT Masters Toronto (June 7–22) and the Esports World Cup 2025 in Riyadh (July 8–13).

Jonathan emphasized that while momentum is on their side, humility will be key. The teams in Toronto represent the elite from every region, making the challenge even steeper.

The good news? As Pacific champions, RRQ bypasses the Swiss Stage and heads straight into the playoffs, giving them precious time to refine strategies and stay physically fresh.

Their mindset remains grounded: “One match, one game, one round at a time.”

The Road to VALORANT Champions 2025 in Paris

How likely is RRQ to qualify for Champions 2025 in Paris? Jonathan remained realistic.

“It all hinges on Masters Toronto. A deep run—or a win—would secure us valuable Championship Points,” he said. With those points in hand, their chances to make it to the year’s most prestigious event become significantly stronger.

The Reward After Years of Commitment

RRQ VALORANT was formed in 2022 with the ambition of becoming a regional force. But success did not come overnight.

Years of internal changes, shifting metas, and evolving strategies tested the organization’s patience. Yet RRQ stuck to their vision: believing in their coaching staff, trusting the long-term process, and giving their system time to mature.

Key player acquisitions weren’t always easy—and sometimes even luck played a role. But through it all, the team remained focused on growth, not shortcuts.

Now, with their first international title in hand, RRQ isn’t slowing down. In Jonathan’s words, “We’re not done. We’re just getting started.”

Gratitude to Those Who Make It Possible

RRQ’s success wouldn’t have been possible without the continued support from their valued sponsors:
Biznet, Acer Predator, Ayana, Pop Mie, and Sukro.

Their belief in RRQ’s journey—and their investment in building digital and physical infrastructures—helped shape a championship-winning environment.
Special thanks to Biznet, Indonesia’s leading integrated digital infrastructure company, for empowering RRQ with world-class internet and connectivity—crucial foundations for excellence in esports.

As RRQ sets its sights on the global stage, one thing is certain: Southeast Asia has a new contender with international ambitions and the heart to back it up. Let’s continue to rally behind them—this is only the beginning.
