Jonard “Demonkite” Caranto arrives at RRQ Hoshi with a journey that looks very different from many young players taking their first steps onto the MPL stage.
He is not starting from zero.
Demonkite has spent years competing in the Philippines, experienced the feeling of becoming a champion, played in major tournaments, and established himself as an experienced jungler before accepting a new challenge with RRQ Hoshi in Indonesia.
What makes his story even more interesting is that his ambition to become a professional esports player began before Mobile Legends was even his main game.
The Dream Came Before Mobile Legends
Demonkite was first introduced to Mobile Legends by a friend in 2019, although he only began playing seriously in 2021.
By then, however, the dream of becoming a professional player already existed.
“My friend introduced me to Mobile Legends in 2019, but I started playing in 2021. Even before I played Mobile Legends, I was already dreaming of becoming a professional player in other esports games,” Demonkite recalled.
In other words, Mobile Legends did not create the dream. It became the game that gave that dream a direction. From there, Demonkite began building his career in the highly competitive Philippine scene, eventually developing into a jungler with years of experience at the MPL level.
Winning a Championship Changed His Perspective
Throughout that journey, one of the experiences that shaped Demonkite the most was becoming a champion. Winning did more than prove what he could accomplish inside the game. It also changed the way he understood what it meant to be a professional player.
“When I won championships, I realized how to be more mature both outside and inside the game,” he said.
At the highest level, professional esports demands much more than mechanical skill. Players have to manage pressure, communicate with teammates, respond to difficult situations, and carry themselves with discipline beyond the match itself.
For Demonkite, winning became part of that learning process. It showed him that reaching the top was not simply about playing better. It also required becoming more mature as a teammate, competitor, and professional. Those lessons are now part of the experience he brings to RRQ Hoshi.
After Becoming a Champion, What Is Left to Chase?
For some players, winning a championship can feel like the final destination. For Demonkite, it was not.
When asked what continues to motivate him after already experiencing the highest moments of competition, his answer was remarkably simple.
“My family and my obsession with the game.”
His family remains one of the strongest reasons he continues competing. At the same time, his passion for Mobile Legends has never disappeared. Even after years in professional competition, there is still a desire to play, improve, and test himself against new challenges.
That motivation also explains why Demonkite was willing to make a decision that once seemed unlikely: leaving the familiarity of the Philippines to compete in Indonesia.
Indonesia Was Not Originally Part of the Plan
Joining RRQ Hoshi was not something Demonkite had always imagined. For much of his career, he preferred competing in his home country.
“Before, I wasn’t really interested in playing in Indonesia because I always liked playing in my own country,” he explained.
The Philippines was familiar territory. It was where he built his career, understood the competitive environment, and spent years facing the teams and players of MPL PH. But eventually, a new opportunity changed his perspective.
“Then I changed my mind and decided to take the opportunity in Indonesia.”
That decision opened an entirely new chapter.
Moving to Indonesia means adjusting to more than another league. It means entering a new environment, building chemistry with different teammates, adapting to new communication dynamics, and learning the characteristics of another competitive region.
For a player who had previously preferred staying close to home, accepting that challenge represented a significant step outside his comfort zone. And that was precisely the point.
MPL Indonesia and MPL Philippines Require Different Approaches
Demonkite knows MPL Philippines extremely well. Indonesia, however, presents a different challenge. When asked about the biggest differences he sees between the two regions, he immediately highlighted two areas.
“I think mechanics and how to approach the game.”
Both MPL PH and MPL ID are known for their high level of competition, but strong regions do not necessarily play the game in exactly the same way.
Players may approach fights differently. Teams can interpret drafts, objectives, rotations, and tempo through different competitive philosophies. That means years of experience in the Philippines do not automatically provide every answer in Indonesia.
Demonkite still has to learn how MPL ID players move around the map, how Indonesian teams approach different phases of the game, and how those tendencies influence his responsibilities as a jungler. Rather than seeing that difference as an obstacle, it is part of the challenge he chose when he accepted the opportunity to join RRQ Hoshi.
Experience and Versatility as His Greatest Strengths
When Demonkite is asked what separates him from other junglers, he does not immediately point toward a single hero or one spectacular mechanical trait. His answer focuses on two qualities.
“I think just experience and being more versatile.”
For a jungler, those qualities can matter enormously. The position demands far more than mechanical execution. A jungler has to understand tempo, control objectives, adapt to different drafts, read the opposing team, and recognize what the rest of the lineup needs at any given moment.
The role also changes constantly with the meta. Sometimes the team needs aggression. Sometimes it needs control. Sometimes the jungler becomes the primary carry, while in other situations the role is about enabling everyone else. Experience helps a player recognize those differences. Versatility allows him to respond to them.
Demonkite has become associated with several heroes throughout his career, with Fanny among the most recognizable parts of his hero pool. But after years of professional competition, his identity as a player is no longer defined by a single pick. Adaptability has become just as important.
A New Chapter With RRQ Hoshi
Joining RRQ Hoshi represents more than another team change for Demonkite. It is a decision to leave behind the environment he knows best and test himself somewhere new.
He arrives in Indonesia as a player who already understands the pressure of professional competition. He knows what it feels like to play on major stages. He understands the expectations that come with competing for championships.
Most importantly, he knows what it feels like to win one. But previous success does not remove the next challenge. Now, Demonkite has to prove that the experience and versatility he built over years in the Philippines can translate into RRQ Hoshi’s game and into the demands of MPL Indonesia.
Different teammates. Different opponents. Different habits. Different expectations. The motivation, however, remains the same: his family, his love for the game, and the desire to keep competing. For someone who once had little interest in playing outside his home country, Indonesia now represents the next test of everything he has learned.
And with RRQ Hoshi, Demonkite is ready to begin that chapter with the King.
